Description
We see the police department are given guns and weaponry like candy, and it is a very disposable thing for officers, almost like they don’t realize the importance of it and how deadly of an item it is. We then see the schedules for the police academy training, which is 90% firearms training and a very small portion of it is focused on mental health and de-escalation tactics. We see the training the officers go through, which is mainly with their firearms, and is the only thing our officer carries with him to the field after graduating from academy. Once graduated and in the field, he is confronted with homeless populations, and children, and others suffering from mental health issues, such as alcoholism and depression and all he can remember from the academy is weapons training.
